Hi, I’m Shari Valenciano, founder of Spanishtime®! I’ve been teaching Spanish for over 20 years, and helping students and families connect through language is truly something I love.
I started learning Spanish when I was fourteen and later became fluent while studying abroad in Spain at twenty-one. Since I learned Spanish as a second language myself, I understand both the struggles and the excitement that come with learning a new language.
Bilingual education is very personal to me as a mom of two bilingual teens from the USA and Costa Rica. Spending years visiting our family in Costa Rica has deepened my love for the language, culture, and everyday connections that come from speaking Spanish.
At Spanishtime®, I’ve built a wonderful team of native-speaking teachers from around the world who teach virtually through Zoom. Together, we create fun, supportive, and real-life learning experiences that help students feel comfortable, confident, and excited to use Spanish in everyday life.

6/07/2014 Our 5-year old takes Spanish on Fridays after school at her preschool through Spanishtime and really enjoys it. She also took the week-long winter break camp and had a great time there too. The teachers are very friendly and welcoming and our daughter is learning a lot. We’re continuing our weekly lessons and hope to do a summer program too. Amanda C.
1/19/2011- My son is 4-1/2 yrs. old and he’s been attending Spanishtime since the beginning of last summer. He loves going and I’m amazed at his level of comprehension. The program is developmentally appropriate for his age and he’s not pressured to complete tasks. When someone speaks Spanish to him he completely understands what they are saying. 1/14/2011 My daughter Jami has attended Spanishtime for 3 years. She is now age 6. She understands commands when spoken and knows a great deal of vocabulary. I have also witness Jami speak Spanish fluently in her sleep. It came as a shock to me the second year she was in the program. I am not bilingual but I know enough Spanish to acknowledge that she was speaking full sentences regarding a pumpkin. They were discussing Halloween the day before in class. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to give their child the gift language. It has brought Jami a lot of joy.
